Long Island Boy dies- Maine news

LONG ISLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Cheverus High School and Long Island communities are mourning the loss of a promising young man.
Eighteen-year-old Benjamin LaMontagne died unexpectedly at his home on Long Island early Saturday morning.
On Wednesday, February 19, he had his wisdom teeth removed.
On February 22, at 1:12 a.m., the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office was notified of a medical emergency at his home on Long Island.
The Regional Communications Center reported that Benjamin's mother called and reported that her son was not breathing.
Emergency medical personnel from the Long Island Fire Department and Portland Fire Department were also notified and responded to the residence.
A patrol deputy from the mainland responded. The deputy met the Long Island Fire boat at the State Pier and was transported to the residence. The deputy arrived at the home at 2:10 a.m., where he met with members of the Long Island and Portland Fire Departments.
A preliminary investigation was conducted at the scene, and although the circumstances surrounding the cause of death are unknown, there are no indications of foul play.
The Office of Chief Medical Examiner was notified and the deceased was transported to the OCME's office in Augusta. On February 24 an autopsy was conducted, with toxicology results pending. At this time, the CCSO continues to work with the OCME to determine the official cause and manner of death.
Benjamin's friend, Christian Cilley, said he was well-known and well-liked at the high school, where he played several musical instruments and was on the sailling club.
Benjamin was planning to attend Gettysburg College in the fall to study music.
Cilley said his motto was "Everything happens for a reason." Now, his friends are trying to find the reason for his passing.
"That's the question," said Cilley. "It just doesn't make any sense. It just seems really unfair because...he was the best guy I knew.
God bless you Benjamin may you rest in peace!!
I am so sorry for your losss!!

Die !! death to these horrid inhumane abusive people that has ruined a boys life!

Every child abuse case is despicable. But some raise the bar (or lower it) to absolutely inhumane. This is one of those cases. The details are so gruesome and tragic -- luckily, it has a good ending. A Washington couple took in a 13-year-old relative, Jordan, who was sent to live with Brandon and Viviana Gunn by his mom, who thought they would be "good role models" for the teen, especially since the man had been in the Navy. The boy was the half-brother of Brandon, and his wife, Viviana, was Jordan's sister-in-law. Sending Jordan to live with them must be a decision that will haunt the boy's mother forever.

Portland, another drug crack bust!

PORTLAND (WGME) -- Police along with the Maine DEA blocked off part of Ocean Avenue in Portland Wednesday night to serve a search warrant, and detained four people.

Among the four detained, authorities tell CBS 13 that at least one will be arrested for aggravated drug trafficking.

Police carried out the raid at 144 Ocean Ave on the second floor apartment where they believe at least one person was selling crack-cocaine.

Drug agents say they acted quickly because the apartment is so close to the Ocean Ave Elementary School. The sign for the school is on the same corner as the home.

Sgt. Scott Pelletier with the MDEA says they brought in a tactical team to help serve the search warrants because of the people involved. They say the suspects are known to police, and officers wanted to take every precaution before serving the warrant. Pelletier says no one was hurt during the operation.

Augusta needs more hospital beds?

AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The new Maine General Hospital in Augusta has been open just four months and the amount of people using the new facility has taken everyone there by surprise.
It is beginning to cause some major headaches.
When Maine General Health announced plans to build a new hospital, it requested 226 beds. That was the same amount of beds in the two hospitals it was replacing in Augusta and Waterville. That request was denied by the state.
Since opening in November, the new $312 million hospital has been filled to capacity on several occasions. When all 192 beds are filled, the hospital staff must find room for additional patients in the Emergency Room.
"We offer them the option to be transferred somewhere else. If they want to stay then we typically move a stretcher out and move an inpatient bed into the emergency room itself" said Chuck Hays, Maine General's CEO.
Hospital officials are now monitoring the situation to see if this is just a particularly busy time or it becomes a trend. The hospital could request to add more beds but that project will cost a lot more than it would have under the original hospital construction.

Why so many people in the hospital?? is my question and maybe yours

Killed: 4
In the quiet, secluded town of Newry, the discovery of four bodies at the Black Bear Bed & Breakfast over the 2006 Labor Day Weekend came as a horrifying shock. Killed were guest James Whitehurst, 50, inn owner Julie Bullard, 65, her daughter Selby Bullard, 30, and friend Cynthia Beatson, 43. All four bodies were dismembered; Whitehurst's was burned and dumped in the woods 15 miles away.Christian Nielsen (pictured), 31, a cook who had worked at another inn in a nearby town, was convicted of the murders and received a life sentence.Maryland: Dawson House FirebombingMarylandMaryland: Dawson House Firebombing

On October 16, 2002, a fatal fire claimed the lives of a courageous Baltimore woman and her family, after neighbor Darrell Brooks (pictured) firebombed their home. Angela Dawson, her husband Carnell and their five children all perished in an attack triggered by Angela telling police about criminal activity in her neighborhood. The murders are considered a fatal consequence of the controversial inner-city Stop Snitchin' ethos which threatens potential police informants with violence. Brooks pleaded guilty to the murders, and the house where the Dawsons once lived is now the Dawson Safe Haven Community Center (sign pictured).

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - An Augusta man has pleaded not guilty to killing his live-in girlfriend.
Justin Pillsbury, 39, remained held without bail after entering his plea to murder charges at an arraignment Wednesday in Kennebec County Superior Court.
Prosecutors say Pillsbury fatally stabbed Jillian Jones in their apartment in November in a fit of jealousy because she had talked to another man on the phone. Authorities say Pillsbury then tried to kill himself.
The couple's roommate discovered both bodies.
Pillsbury's lawyer tells the Kennebec Journal that while he could not comment on the substance of the case he is waiting for some discovery material from the state and Pillsbury's family is standing by him.
The attorney says would oppose the state's attempt to get records of Pillsbury's medical treatment.
